Flashforward.
What is the difference between a vision and a guided imagination exercise? I wish I had the answer. Throughout my life, regardless of the path I’ve taken, reality has remained solid. It was clear how the education system operated, what the school looked like, what the work-life balance was supposed to be, how the health system operated, and what the home represented. However, the pandemic altered everything. This led me to see things outside the box, prompting me to draw connections between previously unrelated elements. I began to question everything I once knew and unexpectedly was able to establish connections between components of traditional systems, methods, and technology.
At first, I thought I envisioned this school, but it was the reality. I saw a school that operates outside of the traditional education system. In this educational institution, teachers transmit lessons through a mirror capturing their full-size body, with screens surrounding the mirror displaying the students in the class. The mirror also serves as a board for teachers to draw or write and can connect to a computer. Thus, teachers can utilize the internet, showcase videos, or employ any software as they would on a computer. While using this function, the mirror projects the content to the class. Unlike contemporary video calls or webinars in 2020, where participants were confined to flat screens, this technology allows teachers to move and engage freely, simulating an in-person class experience from their homes.
In this reality, governments no longer control the younger generations because software companies dominate every aspect of life. The conventional compulsory education system, established in the early 19th century, no longer aligns with the new era in which software companies gained too much power. Educational disparities have widened, exacerbating societal divides. So, to bridge this gap and shift the balance in favor of the people, the new education system has evolved into an underground initiative to preserve humanity.
Teachers from underground schools leverage technology integrated with the internet, smartphones, and social media to project middle-class individuals with the knowledge, skills, and shortcuts necessary to navigate life in the world. Knowledge has become the ultimate currency, usurping money as people orchestrate their lives via smartphones.
In a sense, this world resembles a game in which people must make rapid decisions based on their knowledge; failure to do so allows the wealthy to exploit loopholes and fortify their dominance through new laws or regulations. Consequently, to avoid overloading, people don’t need to possess specific knowledge; they only need to acquire the ability to access relevant information quickly, when needed, to advance to the next level. Thus, the education system adapts to the needs of survival.
The challenge that prevents this underground school system from growing stems from the strict security measures to thwart bot infiltration. Bots are an infective disease of the world, and if even one manages to filter in, it can replicate itself at a rapid rate, endangering the school’s existence. Therefore, students can only join this school through an in-person invitation. The school administration ensures the authenticity of each student before granting access to the curriculum and class links. That’s why the school management needs to develop or purchase an efficient distribution system to expedite the expansion to verifying students’ authenticity; however, no viable solution has yet emerged. As a result, only school members can stand at the gate and verify each student.
The insurance company emailed HR with the announcement that they wanted to avoid hearing. Five board members must retire at the end of the year, having reached the golden wisdom age of 120. This will shorten the number of staff members at the gate and affect the entire school since they have additional roles that they perform. Therefore, the school must find a solution to protect the gate before their insurance expires.
This email couldn’t have come at a worse time. Why do insurance companies always have to create obstacles instead of helping to solve problems? If people think they can still work, why don’t we let them work?
It made me wonder about the creative people out there. Why is creativity considered a driving force behind societal progress? Can we make progress without creative people?
